At Covertite, nothing is more important to us than your safety. When covers and grates do not meet Australian standards, they are at risk of fatigue and failure well before their scheduled lifespan, and compromising the safety of those who use them.
To ensure that is guaranteed at all times, every single one of our access covers and grates meets or exceeds the standards set out by the Australian Government’s national standards body, Standards Australia.
The Australian Standard for access covers and grates is AS 3996-2006 and was prepared by the Standards Australia Committee CE–029, Access Covers and Grates in 2006. This standard is currently being revised and should be published end 2018.
This standard covers all safety aspects of access covers and grates (regardless of their country of manufacture) including load capacity. For example, some covers will be subjected to only very light traffic, such as pedestrians and bicycles. These will require a Class A type load rating, whereas heavy duty requirements at places such as docks and airports will require a Class G load rating. At Covertite, we will ensure your cover and grate requirements meet or exceed all your safety requirements by providing you with covers and grates made of concrete, galvanised steel or the appropriate material to match your exact load safety needs.
We also ensure that our products meet all other aspects of AS 3396-2006, such as ensuring bicycle tyres and pedestrians wearing heels do not get caught in them.
Covertite ensures every one of our covers and grates meet or exceed these standards, so you can have full peace of mind knowing that our quality products are long-lasting, and ensure safety at all times.
Covertite offer products that have been tested to conform to Australian Standards. Our products are suitable for a wide range of services as shown below.
