Designed to slow the flow of stormwater during periods of heavy rainfall, stormwater retention pits are often a local council’s requirement as part of their stormwater management technique. To minimise the risk of flooding, councils require a flow control device to limit the discharge to an acceptable rate and a storage system to hold the excess discharge until capacity becomes available in the downstream drainage system, and retention pits serve this purpose. These retention pits require an adequate cover, based on varying circumstances.
Covertite supplies covers for these retention pits. They are made from galvanised grates and cast iron covers (solid top or infill covers) to suit these various requirements.
We provide retention pit covers for areas that take both pedestrian traffic, as well as heavy-duty retention pit covers which are suitable for bearing vehicle traffic. Our retention pit covers are available in many different sizes, so we will be able to provide you with one that suits your exact requirements. Call our office and we will help you select the correct pit cover for your needs.
All of Covertite’s retention pit covers are bolt down, minimising the risk of theft or accidental displacement, and are available in concrete infill type. Ask our team about our range of lifting devices to assist you with managing these heavy covers.
As with all Covertite products, our retention pit covers meet or exceed Australian Standard AS 3996.
